  • Red Hot Flowers ~ by Linda

Red Hot Flowers ~ by Linda

August 9, 2023 I think these are called Red Hot Poker flowers, but I’m not sure. I would love to hear what our experts think. Thanking you in advance. These flowers were photographed in Escalante, Utah. “Flowers don’t tell, they show.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a “red-letter” day my friends! L

  • Cactus Flower with Bugs ~ by Linda

Cactus Flower with Bugs ~ by Linda

June 14, 2023 This Prickly Pear cactus flower is so lovely. They are one of my favorites and very common to this area. When they are in the budding stage, they have a lot of pink color on the edges. Cactus flowers are so different and pretty - they come in many varieties, shapes and colors. I got a bonus pair of bugs - they might be ants? Not sure. "Reach for the stars, even id you have to stand on a cactus." ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much.

Maiden of the Garden ~ by Linda

April 19, 2023 This lovely statue is in Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia. I loved all the greenery around her, and the flowers. This is near the main entryway. “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.” ~ Michelangelo Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a lovely day. L

  • Spring Trumpet Vines ~ by Linda

Spring Trumpet Vines ~ by Linda

April 7, 2023 We’ve had these trumpet vines for several years. We have about 8 trellis full of them. The trellis’ around Bill’s workshop are about 12 feet tall and 5 feet wide. The two at the front of the house are not that large. This Spring the trellis’ are covered with the Orangish/Corral colored flowers. We enjoy them, and the bees and the hummingbirds do too. “A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a cheerful day! L

  • Bradford Pear Blossoms ~ by Linda

Bradford Pear Blossoms ~ by Linda

February 27, 2023 This is an older photo of one of our Bradford Pear Trees in full bloom. We had three Bradford Pear trees for about 12 years, but we have recently lost 2 of the 3 due to high wind and storms. The last remaining tree is showing buds. We are so happy. Spring maybe near. “Spring: A lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a warm & beautiful day! L

  • Patriotic Cowboy ~ by Linda

    Patriotic Cowboy ~ by Linda

January 13, 2023 This metal cowboy silhouette was on the grounds of the Cowboy Country Inn located in Escalante, Utah. We stumbled across this picturesque small town along one of our road journeys through Utah. I loved the U.S.A. flag, the old wagon and the Red Hot Poker (Torch Lily) flowers in the background. This little place had some great art, and advertisements and it truly must attract a lot of people to its lovely grounds and quaint cabins. “An old cowboy friend o’mine told me once: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And if the job is too hard, it’s because you’re doing it wrong.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a fun day today my friends! L

  • Up Close ~ by Linda

    Up Close ~ by Linda

October 18, 2022 This image could be described as a “down the throat” shot of our honeysuckles that bloomed this Spring and Summer. I love their color; I would describe it as either Tangerine or Apricot in color. Most of you know that I’m terrible with knowing (or remembering 😊 ) the names of flowers and plants. I believe that this is a “Cape” Honeysuckle. But I would love your ideas as to what the name is, or could be. Thanks in advance! “Happy are they who can create a rose tree or erect a honeysuckle in their garden.” ~ Thomas Gray Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! I wish everyone a day full of color, happiness and love. L

  • Lantana ~ by Linda

    Lantana ~ by Linda

May 20, 2022 This is a photo from last year of our Lantanas; however, the two or three deep and long freezes that we suffered through this past winter killed all that we had. I’ve bought and planted 6 more Lantana plants. They are blooming, but the size of the plant at this time is pretty small. Hopefully they’ll get as large as the previous ones we lost. We are leaving for the first boat race of the season later today. It’s this weekend in Marble Falls, Texas just a bit west of Austin in the Hill Country. I’ll be offline for a few days. I’m hoping to get some good photos of brother Marty and the other boats and drivers while we are there. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a fabulous weekend! L

  • Garden Reflections ~ by Linda

    Garden Reflections ~ by Linda

March 19, 2022 This particular photo was taken in the Asian portion of Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia. I love that place and would be delighted to go back again in the near future. “No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.” ~ Taoist proverb Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! I wish everyone a day of beauty! L

  • Welcome to Tucumcari ~ by Linda

Welcome to Tucumcari ~ by Linda

November 5, 2021 This fun mural is on the side of the Blue Swallow Motel which is still open and operating on Route 66 in Tucumcari. I really liked the vintage James Dean with the highway in the background. I’ll be scattering in a few more murals that I took photos of while we were in Tucumcari. That was our first stop on our June road trip. “I think the prime reason for existence, for living in this world is discovery.” ~ James Dean Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Wishing everyone a fine day today! L

  • Cacti Flower ~ by Linda

    Cacti Flower ~ by Linda

September 9, 2021 While we were traveling on vacation recently, we saw hundreds or maybe even thousands of these cacti. The blooms were so pretty and they filled many of the fields in New Mexico with great color. “Every experience, no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it.” ~ Buddha Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! I wish for everyone to have a marvelous & happy day. L

  • This Summer’s Hibiscus ~ by Linda

This Summer’s Hibiscus ~ by Linda

September 6, 2021 This is one of several giant hibiscus plants that we have around our yard. Even as dry as it has been most of the summer, they are all blooming so nicely, and still even today. “The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances.” ~ Martha Washington Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a beautiful day friends! L

  • Prairie Smoke Flowers ~ by Linda

Prairie Smoke Flowers ~ by Linda

August 28, 2021 Recently, I posted a photo of these Prairie Smoke Flowers (thanks Terry Allen for the ID) that had a “painterly” filter. This image has not been edited except for converting RAW file to Jpg and adding a little color. I just loved the color and wispy look of these blooms. We saw a number of these flowering plants on our recent vacation to Utah. “Love is a delicate flower that needs nurturing and protection to bloom.” ~ Dr. Armin A Zaheh Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a lovely day today my friends. L

  • Flowers ~ by Linda

    Flowers ~ by Linda

August 20, 2021 This is another capture from Ireland. I wish I could tell you the name, but I’m clueless. If anyone knows, I’d appreciate your comments. “Flowers are the music of the ground. From Earth’s lips spoken without sound.” ~ Edwin Curran Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a lovely day! L

Spring Revisited w Bluebonnets ~ by Linda

August 10, 2021 This was taken this past Spring. It’s across the street from our home. The cows belong to our neighbor. It sure looks like these cows are content. “All good things are wild and free.” ~ Henry David Thoreau Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have an awesome day! • A Look Back at Spring ~ by Linda

A Look Back at Spring ~ by Linda

July 28, 2021 This is a large collection of blooms on one of our Bradford Pear trees in the front yard. They make such pretty flowering trees. Sadly, we lost one several years ago due to accidental poisoning. Don’t ask, it’s a long story. 😊 The good news is I wasn’t the one that killed it. 😊 Sorry I wasn’t able to post or comment yesterday, we didn’t have internet. ☹ “Where flowers bloom so does hope.” ~ Lady Bird Johnson Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a beautiful day my friends! L

  • Front Porch Beauty ~ by Linda

Front Porch Beauty ~ by Linda

July 20, 2021 Not too long ago we had to go to Ennis to do some shopping (Ennis is about 25 miles from our home). As we were driving through this pretty neighborhood, I caught sight of this lovely home and particularly the front porch. Quickly, I grabbed the camera and took a fast shot as we passed by. I really didn’t expect it to turn out well, but I was happily surprised to see that it was OK. So, I thought I’d share this pretty front porch with you. “If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon, in a perfectly useless manner…You have learned how to live.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much! Have a peaceful and happy day. L

  • Colors! ~ by Linda

    Colors! ~ by Linda

Colors! ~ by Linda June 8, 2021 This beautiful field of flowers is in Richardson, Texas near a lovely park with a very scenic waterfall that flows over the rocks in the creek. Even though the waterfall is not tall, it’s wide and very pretty. Bill Boy and I visited there back in 2020. I know the red flower is a Poppy (which I love), but I do not know the deep and light purple flowers. However, I do love the color combo – it’s the same colors that Bill and I used in our wedding decorations in 2009. “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.” ~ Kahlil Gibran Thank you for your comments and critiques, they always make me smile. Have a wonderful day my friends! Linda

  • Yucca Plant ~ by Linda

    Yucca Plant ~ by Linda

May 15, 2021 This image of the Yucca plant in bloom was taken while we were in Trinidad, New Mexico. We were there in May, 2017. I really liked the looks of it and the curled “threads” on the leaves. I hope you enjoy seeing it as well. “Problems are like plants; you’ve got to get to the roots in order to prevent them from popping up again.” ~ Brian G. Jett Thank you for your comments and critiques, they always make me smile. Have a lovely day my friends. Linda

  • In the Bluebonnets – by Linda

In the Bluebonnets – by Linda

April 21, 2021 It’s been very rainy and cold here for the last few weeks, so I just haven’t felt compelled to go out to look for photo ops. However, yesterday I got out a bit to pick up groceries and do some errands. This scene is about 1.5 miles from our home. I wished that I could have gotten closer for a better composed shot, but there was a locked gate – so this is the best I could do with the lenses I had with me. I’m hoping to get out to find more bluebonnets soon. Next week the temps are supposed to be more seasonable. “….So pack light and love heavy. Life is like bluebonnets in the Spring.” ~ Unknown Thank you for your comments and critiques, they always make me smile. Have a beautiful day! Linda

  • Begonias – by Linda

    Begonias – by Linda

March 21, 2021 I think Begonias are the fashion queens of the world of flora because they come in so many wonderful colors and shapes. “Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.” ~ Benjamin Spock Thank you for your comments & critiques, they always make me smile. Have a beautiful day! Linda

  • Wind Spinner – by Linda

    Wind Spinner – by Linda

January 18, 2021 I’m a big fan of wind spinners. We have two in the backyard. This one was in the front of the Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Texas. Should you ever be in that area, this is a “must stop” destination. They have a wonderful gift store as well as a snack bar that served the most delicious sandwiches. The farm has been growing fields of wildflowers for the production of seed for over 35 years. It’s a very large farm with over 200 acres of wildflowers. “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” ~ Henry Ford Thank you for your comments & critiques, they always make me smile. Take time today to enjoy the beauty around you. Linda

  • Pink!

    Pink!

June 25, 2020 This is one of our Hibiscus plants. The blooms are huge – they measure about 5” across. They have just started blooming in the last few days. They are so pretty! We have 2 pink, 2 red and 2 whites. Notice all the buds that are getting ready to create more joy for us in the days to come. There will be more photos of them to come over time. “I wanted to know the name of every stone and flower and insect and bird and beast. I wanted to know whre it got its color, where it got its life – but there was no one to tell me.” ~ George Washington Carver Thank you for your comments & critiques, they always make me smile. Have a pretty and pink kind of day filled with wonderful sights and light. Linda

  • Pipe Vine Swallowtail – by Linda

Pipe Vine Swallowtail – by Linda

June 11, 2020 When Bill Boyd and I met to shoot together last, he showed me this amazing patch of flowers with Poppies and these awesome purple flowers. Bill told me the name of them, but I’ve forgotten. Bill can you help me out with the name? 😊 We saw this butterfly and both of us tried to get shots of it but it was so fast and flittered from flower to flower quickly. I got lucky with this shot. What a beautiful butterfly this one is! “Butterflies….flowers that fly and all but sing.” ~ Robert Frost. Thank you for your comments & critiques, they always make me smile. Have a beautiful day today my friends! Linda Late add: The flowers are Larkspur. Thank BJB!
