My 1969 Mach 1 Mustang - First Place Winner

October 24, 2011 Hi friends! Obviously I didn't take this photo, but I thought you all might enjoy it - particularly PapaMugger. This is a photo of me after my little 1969 Mustang Mach 1 won the top award for the 1964 - 1969 Mustang class at the recent Fun Ford Weekend regional event in Texas. It was a fun event and there were lots of cars there. Many (like mine) were just entered in the car show, but others were there racing. I didn't race the Mach 1 this year - but I might try next year. I have no idea how to drag race, but it might be fun to see how my little pony does on the racetrack. I liked this picture for lots of reasons, but the number one reason was that the Mustang symbol on the Ford semi truck was showing through the window of MY Mustang! Take care! Thank you all for your comments on my hood ornament yesterday. I was amazed and I very humbly thank you for your kindness. You guys are the greatest!!!!! I'm honored to be in such talented company. Have a great week! I'll do my best to comment in the evenings this week. Linda

Happy September!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gee. this year is flying by so fast.

And, FAST is an accurate description for this car!

This is a shot (enhanced with Topaz Adjust) of my little Pony. She is a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang - one of one, 390 motor & all matching numbers. Her color, that is not 'totally true' here in this shot, is the original color that she came with from the factory, With the lighting, it was hard to get her true color. The original 1969 color is called Indian Fire - which is a burnt copper orange color, that sometimes has a bit of red color in it depending upon the light.

Here she is in all her glory at a recent car show.

Thanks for all your comments & support my friends. I really appreciate all the wonderful comments on the 1940 Packard hood ornament from yesterday.

Best regards,
Linda

1969 Mach 1 Mustang - My Little Pony

May 2, 2011 This is a photo of my 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. It's parked at the same place that Bill's Fairlane was parked in yesterday's POTD. We were taking "glamour shots" of the car in front of the little lake at Sandy Lake Park in north Dallas. She's a burnt copper red color and it's the original Ford color that she was born with in 1969. The color is called Indian Fire Red. She has her original motor and most of her parts are original. Hope you enjoy. I sure like her. Have a great week my friends. Hope you don't get tired of the car shots. Best regards, Linda

April 11, 2011 POTD Check it out in X2 Hello my Smugmug friends! I apologize for being so absent from commenting for the last 3 days. My excuse is that I took my 1969 Mach 1 390 Mustang to the Wild West Pony Show, a national Mustang show sponsored by the Mustang Club of America. The show was 3 days long - so I was kind of tied up and very tired after many hours sitting outside in all the heat we've had in North Texas the last three days - over 90 degrees. The show was National (my first national show) and had about 260 mustangs from all over the country (lots of Mustang photos coming soon). The furthest Mustang traveled more than 1,700 miles from New Hampshire to be at this show. The show also had a "Special Interest Ford Powered" section that my husband Bill entered his 1966 Fairlane in. At this show you couldn't 'choose' the class (MCA rules) for your car, and the officials somewhat forced every one of the Mustangs into a class chosen by the 'experts' at the gate. I would have chosen the "occasional driver" class, but the the gate people put the Mach 1 in the Concours d' Elegance Driver (as opposed to trailer'd) class. That shocked me. This is a tough, tough class - everything on the car is judged by how original it is, and if it has anything that wasn't exactly as it was when it rolled out of the factory (mine was built in San Jose, CA in April, 1969), you lost points in this show. We've made some modifications on the Mach 1 - so we were nervous about being in this "Concours" class for the first time. So because we made those modifications I did loose points for some of the 'changes' and some of the "wrong" details (e.g. not an autolight windshield, missing window crank medallions, wrong wheels (I have Magnum 500 wheels - the originals are ugly) wrong steering wheel, not the original exhaust - (we replaced it with a Boss 302 exhaust and wrong ), and wrong radio (replaced with a replica that has AM/FM, cd player in the trunk - a dead give away and an iPod connection. We learned a lot, but I don't think I'll ever want to make this car a "pure" Concours car - because I want to drive it & enjoy the power. But we had enough of the original to win a Silver Award. So I was thrilled to be # 2 in the group of Driven Concours d'Elegance class Mustangs. Bill & I both came home with awards from this show - and we were totally NOT expecting this - we just went to the show to learn about a national event, have good time, and meet some fine people - and that we did. So this is a photo of my little pony as she's parked at the show for the last 3 days. Her color is the original 1969 Indian Fire & her owner (me) is about as red as she is on my neck & arms since we were on a hot concrete parking lot for the last 3 days - OUCH! Thanks for all the wonderful comments my friends. I'm going to try to catch up on my comments on your great photos this week. I'm leaving again for Birmingham this Wednesday, back late Friday. Have a fabulous week!!!!!!!!!!!! Linda

174 had Black Mach 1 Bucket Seats, of which,
58 had factory Air Conditioners and

You've heard of the Pink Cadillac, but have you ever heard of a Pink Mustang? This beauty is a 1967 Mustang that was supposedly owned (I can not verify) by Hugh Hefner. So - that's the car's legend. However, it did have the "bunny" symbol in the floor-mats. Who knows if it was or wasn't owned by Hefner? Nevertheless, it was a neat car to see - particularly in such an odd color. It's definitely a 'girl' car. :))

Thanks for all your kind comments on my yellow '32 5-window coupe.

Have a great evening.

Best wishes,
Linda

July 30, 2010 OK - here's my own personal classic car from the car show last weekend in Waxahachie Texas. There were over 212 classics at this show - and they were all amazing! You'll see lots of shots of classic cars on Smug Mug in the next few days. My little pony is a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang (390 motor - one of one car). According to the Marti report (Ford's records) there were 299,036 1969 Mustangs built, of those there were 133,801 that were Sportsroof cars, of them, there were 9,440 built with 390 - 4V Engine of which, there were 4,668 that came with Automatic Transmissions. 273 of those cars were painted Indian Fire Red (my Mustang's color), of those, 174 had Black Mach 1 bucket seats, and of those 84 had factory air conditioning, and of those, only 12 had Tachometerers. Of those, only 5 were equipped with a Sport Deck Rear Seats and only 1 had Front Bumper Guards. This is my Mustang. Hence the 1 of 1 rating from Marti - no other 1969 Mustang has all of those combinations. She is a wonderful Pony Car that I sure enjoy driving often. The reflection in her side is of my husband's 1966 Fairlane, 427 Muscle Car - pictures of his car are in the SmugMug future. Thanks for all the nice comments. Have a great weekend. Linda

Out of 250 cars at the show, our Mach 1 won Top 25 cars and Top Muscle Car. Since her first show, she's won Top 10, another Top 25 two more times and Best in Show once. The Best in Show (out of 90 cars total) was won in October, 2009. Under the Hood

Under the hood: The motor is original to the car, and is a fast 390, somewhat rare. In her day there were 299,036 1969 Mach 1 Mustangs produced by Ford. Of those, only on 9,440 were 390 V4 engines. According to the Marty report - she is a one of one. That means, that My Little Pony is the ONLY car produced that year with all the options she has, her color, this motor, the other options (one of the rarest is her factory air conditioning), etc that she has. There is not another car that is identical to her. This is a 1 of 1 car - no other is like it, which is validated by the Marty Report. One of the rarest things about this car is the original paint (seen here) which is Indian Fire - of the 299,036 Mustangs produced in 1969, only 273 of them were painted Indian Fire, of those only 174 had black Mach 1 bucket seats, and of those only 54 had factory air. Narrowing it down further, of those with the options above only 12 had Tachometers, 5 were equipped with Sport Deck Rear Seats, and only one (this one) had a front spoiler.

She is a 1 of 1 according to the Marti report. Meaning: she is the only car to have been bought in 1969 with the color, options and motor - so se is rare. And I Love her so.
