My Little Pony

Check it out in X2
Hello my Smugmug friends! I apologize for being so absent from commenting for the last 3 days. My excuse is that I took my 1969 Mach 1 390 Mustang to the Wild West Pony Show, a national Mustang show sponsored by the Mustang Club of America.
The show was 3 days long - so I was kind of tied up and very tired after many hours sitting outside in all the heat we've had in North Texas the last three days - over 90 degrees.
The show was National (my first national show) and had about 260 mustangs from all over the country (lots of Mustang photos coming soon). The furthest Mustang traveled more than 1,700 miles from New Hampshire to be at this show.
The show also had a "Special Interest Ford Powered" section that my husband Bill entered his 1966 Fairlane in.
At this show you couldn't 'choose' the class (MCA rules) for your car, and the officials somewhat forced every one of the Mustangs into a class chosen by the 'experts' at the gate. I would have chosen the "occasional driver" class, but the the gate people put the Mach 1 in the Concours d' Elegance Driver (as opposed to trailer'd) class. That shocked me.
This is a tough, tough class - everything on the car is judged by how original it is, and if it has anything that wasn't exactly as it was when it rolled out of the factory (mine was built in San Jose, CA in April, 1969), you lost points in this show.
We've made some modifications on the Mach 1 - so we were nervous about being in this "Concours" class for the first time. So because we made those modifications I did loose points for some of the 'changes' and some of the "wrong" details (e.g. not an autolight windshield, missing window crank medallions, wrong wheels (I have Magnum 500 wheels - the originals are ugly) wrong steering wheel, not the original exhaust - (we replaced it with a Boss 302 exhaust and wrong ), and wrong radio (replaced with a replica that has AM/FM, cd player in the trunk - a dead give away and an iPod connection. We learned a lot, but I don't think I'll ever want to make this car a "pure" Concours car - because I want to drive it & enjoy the power.
But we had enough of the original to win a Silver Award. So I was thrilled to be # 2 in the group of Driven Concours d'Elegance class Mustangs.
Bill & I both came home with awards from this show - and we were totally NOT expecting this - we just went to the show to learn about a national event, have good time, and meet some fine people - and that we did.
So this is a photo of my little pony as she's parked at the show for the last 3 days. Her color is the original 1969 Indian Fire & her owner (me) is about as red as she is on my neck & arms since we were on a hot concrete parking lot for the last 3 days - OUCH!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments my friends.
I'm going to try to catch up on my comments on your great photos this week. I'm leaving again for Birmingham this Wednesday, back late Friday.
Have a fabulous week!!!!!!!!!!!!
