  • I LOVE Hats!

    I LOVE Hats!

November 8, 2016 I have often thought that I was born in the wrong time because I love hats and would have so enjoyed wearing hats like this one to parties and such. While at the Fountainhead Antique Auto museum in Fairbanks, they had some hats and vintage clothing props that you could put on to take your photo in an old car there on display. This is the hat and the lacy bib I decided on for our photo. Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have an awesome day today!! Linda

    Bill and Linda in Alaska

December 28, 2015 This photo was taken by our friends that we traveled to Alaska with. We had just enjoyed our rain forest walk and an amazing Dungeness crab feast! This was my first time to have Dungeness Crabs, and they were delicious. I'll be looking at all the menus from now on, and if I see them listed - that will be my selection. Thank you for your comments and critiques Have a fun day today my friends! Linda

  • Happy Anniversary to Us!

    Happy Anniversary to Us!

May 16, 2015 Yesterday was mine and Bill's 6th wedding anniversary! We are so happy together. I posted my Lexicon photo yesterday, so I'm posting our anniversary photo today, which works because Bill and I got married in a small family ceremony on 5/15/2009, but we had a huge reception with about 250 friends on 5/16/2009, so I guess this is our anniversary of the reception party. :-) But seriously, how cool is our anniversary date? 5-15-15, I'm digging that set of numbers. Most people that meet us think we are a long-time married couple, and we both feel that way too. It's because when we found each other, we both found our soul mate. So we are in harmony and enjoy each other very much. We've actually been together as a couple for almost 13 years. Life is Good! This photo was taken by Granddaughter Ashlee when we did the family train ride on the Texas State Railroad Steam Train. I added the vignette. "You were made perfectly to be loved - and surely I have loved you, in the idea of you, my whole life long." ~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning Thank you for your comments and critiques! Have a blessed day! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

Fishing At Sunset, It Doesn't Get Much Better!

February 5, 2015 Once again, in mining old photo folders, I ran across this shot of me fishing on the Parana River in Argentina. Bill and I had a grand trip while there. We loved the people and their hospitality was wonderful. Thank you for your comments and critiques. "If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles." ~ Doug Larson Have a day full of love and sunshine. Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

    More Cowboy Action Shooting Costumes

December 11, 2014 I mentioned in the photo of the man dressed as an American Indian that was my POTD December 5th, that the shooters (participants) in Cowboy Action events dress in period clothes, that's part of the fun! So here's a shot of me in my costume at the End of Trail event - just one of my several shooting costumes, but my favorite.. It's made completely of the softest leather I've ever felt. And it was fun to wear to the competitions. Have a great day! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

"Nature at it's best." ~ Me

Here's a quick shot of Bill and I that was taken by some nice folks we met when we pulled off the road to gaze at the beauty of Lander Cut Off, just over the Idaho border into Wyoming. Of course we took their photos too.

The Lander cut-off is known for it's relationship to the Oregon Trail. It left the Oregon Trail at Burnt Ranch on the Sweetwater River near South Pass City, WY, but rejoined the Oregon Trail in Idaho, northeast of Pocatello at Ross Fork Creek. Frederick Lander surveyed the trail in 1857, and afterwards tens of thousands of people passed over the trail during its use. When the transcontinental railroad was completed in 1869 emigrant travel over the Lander cut-off trail as well as the Oregon Trail rapidly declined. The last wagons over the trail were observed at Fort Piney, WY between 1910 and 1912.

Have a fantastic Monday, and a wonderful week my friends!!!

    Sparks Flying

May 21, 2012 “The artist must create a spark before he can make a fire and before art is born, the artist must be ready to be consumed by the fire of his own creation.” ~ Auguste Rodin My husband Bill is an engineer, but he is also an artist. Here's a shot of him doing what he loves.......tinkering in his home workshop. In this shot he is grinding on a piece of a John Deere implement that he can no longer buy parts for, so he is making a new part for it. He always makes his equipment better. I went out to the workshop to tell him something, and he was so absorbed in his work that he didn't know I was there. So, I ran back in the house, grabbed the camera, ran back to the workshop and started shooting. Check it out in X2 or X3. Have a sparkling day today my friends! Linda

  • Merry Christmas From Texas Ya'll

December 25, 2011

I hope this finds you all having a blessed day with family. This is a quick, and not great shot of our Christmas tree - but you can see some interesting ornaments in X2 or X3. All the gifts under the tree are for the adult children, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, neices and nephews - Bill and I bought ourselves a Krup's coffee maker for our Christmas, and we're already using it - didn't want to wait!

I used the Spicify filter from Topaz to enhance the shot, & I kind of liked the way it turned out, so I hope you all do to. Notice the Ceramic Longhorn over the tree to the right - just a touch of Texas for Christmas.

Bill and I are leaving on vacation with my sister & her husband tomorrow. We don't have any real plans other than to make it to New Orleans, and then drive all the small highways that we can along the coast towards Florida. So look for some of those shots coming in the next few weeks.

While on the trip, I'll do my best to make comments, but they may be a little sparse for the next week or so.

Blessings and a Very Merry Christmas to all my SmugMug friends! You guys ROCK!!!

Take care!!!!

First, let me say thank you to all the wonderful photographers in the Daily Community. I learn so much from each of you, and I truly appreciate your comments and critiques of my photos. You all ROCK!!!!

I really was overwhelmed by the gracious response on the shot of the renovated gasoline pump photo yesterday. Thank you.

As photographers, it is rare (which is like most of you too I'm sure) to be in front of the camera, rather than behind the camera. So I thought I would share with you one of the few, and maybe the only shot of me from our New Mexico trips. This is me and my sweet husband Bill at Grahams a wonderful restaurant in Taos, NM. The food there is great and we can highly recommend it if you should be visiting Taos.

I'm not scheduled (at least at this moment) to travel for at least another 2 weeks (thank goodness) so I should be able to keep up with the comments on your wonderful work.

Have a great week, and make it a fantastic Monday!

  • Ride the Rapids!

    Ride the Rapids!

August 10, 2011 Hey guys, I didn't take this photo (obviously), but I thought you all might enjoy it. This is a shot of me (left front of the photo) and my husband Bill (right front of the photo) doing the white water raft trip down the Rio Grande River in New Mexico. This was my first rafting trip, and Bill's 47th (I think). It was scary, thrilling & a lot of fun. This shot is just before we hit two big rocks, and on the second slam against the rock, I went flying out of the raft. Man, was that water cold! Fortunately when I went out, the boat was still pretty close, and I quickly got my wits about me and grabbed hold of the rope around the outer edge of the raft. Thank goodness for the safety talk before we started! And, my sweetheart, Bill saved me, and pulled me out of the river, and back into the boat. In the craziness of flipping out of the boat, I lost one of my "blingy" flip flops (I was sad). But glad to be back in the boat. A few miles down the river a guy in a kayak was padding upstream against the tide. He got close to our raft and was holding up my shoe. He said, " Did anyone loose this shoe? It has so much bling on it that it blinded me." I loved that I got my missing shoe back. We laughed a lot on this trip & it was much fun. The other couple in the raft were great & Sydney our guide was awesome. This was shot by the raft company and I did some PP on it with Topaz adujst. I liked the outcome. Processing it brought back some fun memories of our trip to Taos. Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Linda
