This is one of many shots that I took at the Waco boat races in 2018. The driver of the Nitro boat, which is the fastest of all the boats, lost control when the boat was running at approximately 200 mph. The boat was totally destroyed. There was nothing left but some Styrofoam floating (the white things on the water) on the river which is “inside” some areas of the boat . The hull disintegrated, the motor was long gone, and the driver’s capsule sank to the bottom of the river. The drivers all have 30 minutes of oxygen if the capsule separates from the boat. The Rescue boats were there at the crash area in seconds after the crash. The scuba divers were in the water seconds later. They located the capsule under the water and hooked the wench up and brought it to the surface. They got the driver out and you can see him in black on the deck of the boat. The capsule is being raised in this shot also. The driver was rushed to shore where an ambulance was waiting. Several hours later, it was announced that the driver was fine and had been released from the hospital. These rescue boats and the divers are so essential for safety at the boat races, and they (IMHO) are the heroes.
