"I" is for "I Am Back"
July 29, 2018
This was the best I could do for the "I" shot today. I've missed you all very much, and I'm glad to be back.
As you know, I retired May 24th. Bill and I left for Ireland May 25th and were gone until mid June. What an amazing trip!
I had surgery on my C5-C6 vertebrae just after we got back from Ireland. It's been a much more difficult surgery to recover from than I had anticipated. And I'm not totally well yet. But I'm doing ok.
The doctor took a piece of bone out of my hip, then inserted it between the two vertebrae - and put two screws in.
When the bone was removed from my hip, a major nerve was disturbed - and now I'm totally numb from my hip to my knee. Any touch on that part of my body sends shooting nerve pain up and down my leg. I'm on meds - so they've calmed the nerve pain down some.
The doctors say it may be a year before I regain feeling and don't have pain in my leg. Oh well - that's just life, and it is what it is. I'm thankful. to be here.
I've been living with this little green torture chamber surrounding my neck for 7 weeks. It's all lined with felt - so in the 100- 108 temps of Texas, it's been quite miserable. As you can see, the front rests on my chest and the back (unseen) extends half way up the backside of my head. I've been wearing this little fashion statement 24X7 except for my daily shower. Ugh. I have 1 more week to go before I can take it off .
I'm happy, I'm optimistic and all is good in my world. I'm glad to feel good enough to post again (finally) and looking forward to sharing photos with my SM friends.
Hugs! Thanks for your comments and critiques.
