While on our recent adventure (driving vacation) we spent about a day roaming around the Palo Duro Canyon area of Texas. At one stop, there were a good number of cactus blooms (different types and colors). I enjoyed this photo as I as going through the first few from our trip. The sun was high and hot when this was taken, and the little "bent" petal seems to be shading the center from the sun.

Enjoy some sun, and a little shade today my friend.
Beautiful cactus bloom. Isn't Palo Duro Canyon great? I visited there a few years ago, driving south from Amarillo to Canyon, turn left and boom, I was in a beautiful red rock canyon--such a lovely surprise.
Lovely flower Linda! Really like the color and comp.
I mad the cover of one of the local magazines with one of my sunrise shots. I got an e-mail from the Chesapeake Bay foundation and the cover said Photo by John Murphy! I was shocked when I go email from 2 friends telling me this. I submitted this shot for a contest last year.
