The Guinness Factory
August 2, 2018
This is the closest we were able to get to the Guinness factory while in Dublin. Some of you that are FB friends know, and some SM friends don't know the story....about the start of our Ireland trip.
We missed our connecting flight out of Chicago due to weather delays in Dallas., So the first day of our Ireland trip was lost and we missed the Book of Kells - tickets already paid for. Oh well..
We were booked in business class to and from. After missing the connecting flight - we weren't guaranteed those seats the next day. Ugh. Bill is 6'5" - so for long flights, coach is fairly miserable. When we were finally able to book the next day's flight out of Chicago there was only one 1st class ticket left. We grabbed it for him. I flew coach.
The original plan was for us to be 2 days in Dublin. That didn't work out as planned. Since we had pre-planned B&B's throughout the rest of our Ireland trip, we couldn't stay in Dublin another night - so we made the best of it..
When we arrived in Dublin a day late at 8:30 a.m. Dublin time which is 2:30 a.m. our body time - we were suffering greatly from jet lag. We checked into the B&B, showered, napped for 30 minutes - then got out in the streets of Dublin. It was pouring down rain. We enjoyed lunch a few blocks away. We talked to the manager of the restaurant and said, how can we see as much of the city as possible today? She said get on the bus, then do a walking tour. She so kindly gave us two umbrellas. When we finished our bus tour and walking tour - we took the umbrellas back to her at the restaurant for someone else to use.
We took a double-decked bus tour ride. We got to see a lot of the city through the rain. Dublin is a lovely town and so colorful, as is all of Ireland.
The Guinness Factory is to the left in this shot from the top of the bus. I was sorry that we weren't able to tour it - I did have a Guinness while I was there just because. I am not a beer drinker, but I have to admit that the little one I had was pretty good.
I took more than 3,ooo photos in two weeks in Ireland. I've worked through them all and threw away a good number of them. I don't want to bore you with nothing but Ireland photos for months, so I'm adding other photos to the Daily mix.
