Fighting Rooster Hood Ornament
August 12, 2019
I think most of us “of a certain age” love the hood ornaments that were on the cars of yesteryear. They made the car so elegant and helped identify the make & model. I think Wayne mentioned the other day that a lot of them were stolen when he was on the police force, and sometimes found around a teenager’s neck on a chain. That’s such a shame, and I would imagine that is a big part of the reason for the demise of these works of art. I had a ’94 Jaguar that had the Jaguar cat on the hood. I was very careful where I parked it because I didn’t want the hood ornament to be stolen. Thankfully, when I finally got rid of that car 10 years later, with more than 290,000 miles on it, the cat was still intact.
This ornament was on a car in the Fountainhead Auto Museum in Fairbanks, Alaska. Unfortunately, the photos from the 2nd memory card were accidentally erased, and so, I have all the second card from that trip. Therefore, I don’t have a photo of the identification card to give you the detail on this car or hood ornament. Good news, I can restore them through Carbonite but haven’t made the time to do that yet. However, it taught me a VERY good lesson. Do not get in a hurry when moving/copying photo files to your archive destination. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Thank you for your comments and critiques, they are always appreciated.
Have a great day, and perhaps find a little nostalgia in it that makes you smile.
