Final Resting Place
November 7, 2018
While we were in Ireland we visited quiet a few cemeteries that had some really old burials. I found it interesting however, that oftentimes there were modern burials alongside some of the 17th and 18th century ones. We also saw a lot of cemetery statuary. This is one that was rather common, although there were some minor variations between similar statues such as the style of pedestal, the type of wrap/cloak or hand positions. I liked that this one’s cloak and face was pretty much covered in Lichen or moss. However, there was another similar statue nearby who’s dress had more, and the cloak was almost lichen free.
