Holy Child Chapel
November 4, 2019
As we were rambling around northern New Mexico we found ourselves on a portion of the Philmont Scout Ranch. We didn’t know it was in the area in which we were traveling, but it was a delightful discovery. The ranch covers 140,177 acres of rugged mountain wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains. The camp was born in 1938 as the Philturn Rocky Mountain Scout Camp it has become a bustling center for high adventure and training. Near the entry to Philmont Boy Scout Ranch's main lodges, we discovered the Holy Child Chapel that was deeded to the Archdioceses in 1904.
