Storm over Kodachrome ~ by Linda
March 15, 2023
This is another of my photos taken at Kodachrome Basin State Park which is near Cannonville, Utah. Should you ever be near that area, Kodachrome is worth a visit and has some amazing and splashy scenery. It is dominated by 67 monolithic stone spires called sedimentary pipes, and they are among a lot of multi-hued sandstone cliffs. The geology of the basin represents 180 million years of geologic time. In 1948 a National Geographic Society expedition to the area named it after the popular, and new, color film. I would say that my grandchildren have no understanding of what a revolutionary camera film Kodachrome was in its introductory time frame. Kodachrome Basin State Park is about 22 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park.

6 days agoI'm with Judy here regarding how the younger generations have no idea of what was such a part of our lives--and the Paul Simon song came to mind as well! You can tell she and I are of the same generation! Great shot of that beautiful area--sort of between Bryce and Arches!

6 days agoGorgeous capture of this incredible scenery! I am sure my grandkids also have no idea of the importance of Kodachrome film during our lifetimes. I always think of the song by Paul Simon. It is a bit disconcerting to think that much of what happened during our lives will be classified as "olden times" by our grandchildren.
