Near Cripple Creek, Colorado
July 29, 2019
As mentioned in a previous post, this image is also from our rambling backroads trip to New Mexico and Colorado in May of 2017. We visited friends that afternoon in Florissant, Colorado and were late leaving their home. The nearest town of any size was Cripple Creek about 15 miles away. We were surprised that most of the hotels in were full, but we managed to secure a room for the night in one of the Casinos. The next morning, we toured a local museum, then headed out to meet Judy and Phil Horton for lunch in Colorado Springs. This image was taken just as we were leaving Cripple Creek.
“Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me, if I spring a leak, she mends me. I don’t have to speak, as she defends me. A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one.” ~ Lyrics from “Up on Cripple Creek” recorded by The Band.
Thank you for your comments and critiques.
Go somewhere and explore the backroads today my friends!
