It's Past it's glory days, but still standing!
October 16, 2018
This old motel was probably very, very popular in its day as it is near a portion of the old and fabled Route 66 through Oklahoma. To my knowledge – it’s not “on” the old Route, but it is not too far from where it came through Tulsa.
The old motel is obviously not in great shape today; yet it did appear that perhaps someone may be living in one of the rooms. What caught my eye was the old neon arrow on top of the sign. I’m guessing that it doesn’t work now. Nevertheless, I did like the age and the colors on the sign. This photo will soon be joining my Rural and Urban Decay Gallery on SM.
I’m curious about the following question fellow Smuggers: I know that if someone comments on an older photo that has been posted to a gallery other than your daily – it won’t show; however, I wonder if you post on the current day to a gallery different from your Daily, and someone comments – will it show up in Most Popular? Just curious.
“There is something uniquely American about the motel: It speaks to the transient nature of America itself, one enabled and encouraged by our roads and highways.” ~ Hanya Yanagihara
Have a day full of neon fun today my friends!
