Almost a Ghost Sign ~ by Linda
November 14, 2021
This old Dr. Pepper sign/mural is on an old building near Maypearl, Texas. I liked the weathering on this sign. Parts are it still have quite a bit of color. We live about 10ish miles from Maypearl which is a very small town. However, it’s often quicker for us to drive there to get just a few items from the grocery store, rather than driving into Waxahachie to the larger HEB store.
“The old man reminded Tito of those ghost-signs, fading high on the windowless sides of blackened buildings, spelling out the names of products made meaningless by time.” ~ William Gibson
Thank you for your comments and critiques, I do appreciate them very much!
Have a delightful day!

on November 15, 2021Nice find Linda and well captured. Dr. Pepper has been around for such a long time and definitely not "made meaningless by time." Love the idea of ghost signs.

This mural has endured the test of time and is still legible with lots of interesting details. Hopefully, it will last for several more years!

on November 14, 2021Old weathered signs like this do take us back in time--more so in some ways that if it were bright and new! In the town of Socorro, New Mexico, I remember a White Owl Cigar sign, also ghosting away. I really liked it, and took pics, but that was back in film days, and I'm pretty sure it's gone by the wayside.
