Deep With The Ancient Walls
July 30, 2018
This is a photo from deep within the Timoleague Friary not too far from Kinsale, Ireland and in the town of Timoleague. It's very wet there, and the walls in the deepest part of the Friary were covered with algae. According to the information sign at the site, this Fiary was established circa 1300 by the Franciscans on the site of the ancient monastery St. Mologa; endowed by the Barrys and the McCarthys who are buried here.
The Friary is quiet large with many ruins. There are probably more than 200 graves there. Some quite ancient ones and some that were added in the 20th century.
