Thank You All Veterans!
November 11, 2019
When we were traveling to Port Aransas, Texas in January 2019, we found ourselves behind this Firetruck flying the American flag. It really touched us. I love how so many citizens show their pride of our country and their respect for the Military and first Responders.
Today gives us Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all the U.S.A. veterans. The reason that we commemorate our Veterans on November 11th is because on this date in 1918 it marked the end of World War I, and in 1938 legislation was passed to honor Armistice Day, a new legal holiday that honored World War I veterans. In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the 83rd U.S. Congress amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word “Armistice” and inserting the word “Veterans”. The approval of this legislation November 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
My grandfather was a WWI Army Vet, my father a WWII Army Vet, my first husband was a Vietnam Air Force Vet who died after our 1.5 years of marriage. I am a proud child of the Armed Forces of the U.S.A. I love and thank our veterans and I will support them until I’m here no more.
“The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.” ~ General Douglas MacArthur
Thank you for your comments and critiques.
I’ve been having issues with our internet speed today, so I’m hopeful that I can get this image uploaded and also be able to comment on your photos. But if I can’t just know I’ll catch up with them when this miserably slow Internet gets fixed. Tech scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Please thank all of the Veterans that you know today.
