A midnight blue Buick!!!! What a beauty. This is SOOC.

This classic car is a 1934 Buick Sedan, and it is in pristine condition. It's won many awards, and I'm sure you can see why. I hope you enjoy looking at this car as much as I did.

Have a great Sunday my friends!!!!

This is a very unusual hood ornament from a 1937 or 1938 Chevrolet Coupe. I took this at a local car show recently. I liked the red stripes in the "wings" of this creature, and the sparkle in the paint on the hood which is in the background. I couldn't find any information on the Internet about what this ornamenet would have been named, but I didn't have a lot of time to research either, so if you know - please drop me a note.

Here's a shot of the whole car: http://lgood.smugmug.com/Cars/Classic-Cars/12442807_4GBBqD/#1626846065_QW88DJH

Thanks to everyone your fun comments on my personal interpretation of the 'soleful' challenge. It was great fun. Thanks for suggesting Paula & Chuck. Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!

This is a 1937 or '38 Chevrolet Coupe. Photo taken at a recent car show in Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, Texas. This car had a very unusual hood ornament, one like I've never seen before. See a close up of the hood ornament in a Daily shot here:

Is this a man's or a woman's car? I'll give you one guess. Give up?

That really wasn't a tough test. This 1968 or maybe a 1969 (I think) Chevrolet Camero is a woman's car. Photographed at the St. Jude's Charity Car show in Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie, Texas. Our car club worked really hard on this show to make as much money as we could for St. Jude. We had over 120 cars there, some I've never seen before. All of the trophies were donated by the car club members, and Bill's graphics company re-did all the labels. So we had little cost in the 'administration' of the show, and were able to raise and donate over $5,000 to St. Jude's hospital.

I liked this car, but it was a little too flashy for me, I like the cars that are 'original' to their time. One of the things that I did like best about this photograph is the sunburst off the hood of the old Belair parked next to the Camero. Check this out in X3 for loads of fun details, close up of the modifications done to the Camero, and some neat reflections.

It was a lovely day, and everyone had a great time. You'll see some more car pics from this show in the near future.

Too far gone, but still pretty cool!!! SOOC shot. Check it out in x2, lot's of details to see.

Bill and I found a car graveyard of sorts near Nocona, Texas (known for the home of Nocona Boots). There were probably 40 old cars there, all of them too far gone to tackle restoration, which was sad. But probably 65% of them were old Hudsons.

This is a Hudson Terraplane. I have no idea how old it is. According to Wikipedia, the Terraplane was built by the Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit Michigan between 1932 and 1938. It was originally called the Essex-Terraplane, but changed to just the Terraplane in 1934. I couldn't see the Essex name on this one anywhere, so I will have to guess that it was built from 1934 through 1938.

I hope you enjoy the photo of this old classic, I'm sure in a few years there will be even less of it left, as the rust is eating it alive. And that is sad because I think this car had a lot of style for one that was made from 73 to 77 years ago.

Take care,
Linda

Another great classic from the Taos NM Autumn Fun Run. This is a rare 1957 Pontiac Safari wagon. I loved the color and the extra paint swirls and touches on the side.

And those fins.......................Don't you miss fins on cars? I do.

Thanks to everyone for all of your comments about the photo of the 1950 Mercury "Lead Sled" I was honored and so thrilled that it landed so high in the Dailies. Smugmugger's ROCK!!!!

Take care my friends, I'm headed off to Birmingham again for the rest of the week. I'll do my best to try to stay caught up on comments.

You guys are so inspirational, I love looking at and learning from all of your awesome photos!

Have a great week!!!

"Lead Sled" - for real!

This is a 1950 Mercury that has been highly customized by it's owner, but it sure is a beauty. This unusual purple color really worked well on this big one from the heyday of American cars. I love the grill in front, it makes the car look like it's smiling! I know the owner smiles when he/she drives this beauty down the street. Believe me, it turns a LOT of heads.

Please take the time to look at this in the larger sizes to see the many reflections on the side of the car. And the reflections that are repeated over & over again in the grill. If you look close enough you can see a beautiful blue sky and a tiny SP of me.

Hope you enjoy!

Not my most unique or creative car shot, but one that I kind of like, primarly because of the tree and the interesting bark. I believe this is an Aspen tree which are so beautiful. This was taken at the Taos, New Mexico fun run. There's lots to see in X2.

Hope you all enjoy.
