A red Shelby Cobra - how cool is this?????????????
Another Classic Wheel!
A 1934 Buick with a 1934 Ford reflected in its side.

Then there's my sweet husband Bill in front as an admirer, and carrying my camera equipment. This is one of my favorite car shots!
A shot of the front grill of the classic 1939 Chevy. Here's the back side shot of this gorgeous classic car: http://lgood.smugmug.com/gallery/12442807_L6QVo/#1163099923_DAfsZ

Enjoy my friends!
Hi everyone! This is a shot of one of my most viewed, and personal favorite car shots. This front end shot is (in my opinion) really cool and it seems the grill is saying, "GRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

Click here for the original Daily Photo that garnered so many comments that I appreciated so very much.

This Daily photo shows the side shot of this lovely custom with the "Changing Paint"

Enjoy!
Another "Double" self portrait of me & my husband Bill in the headlights of a fabulous Rolls Royce. I didn't get a good shot of the information sheet on this car, so I'm not sure what year it is. This was at the Louisville, KY Concours d' Elegance car show.

Hope you enjoy ! Best viewed in X2

This is probably one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) hood ornaments I've ever seen. Believe me, it's best viewed in X2 or 3 to see the details and the lovely patina on the ornament. This is on a 1925 Silver Ghost built originally in Springfied, Massachusetts. It's been owned by the same family since 1925 to 2000 when it was sold to it's second owner. This is one of the ONLY 100% UNRESTORED, and original Ghosts in existance.

The name of the hood ornament is "The Spirit of Ecstasy" - also called "Emily", "Silver Lady" or "Flying Lady". According to Wikipedia, it was designed by Charles Robinson Sykes and carries with it a story about a secret passion between John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu (second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu after 1905, a pioneer of the automobile movement and editor of "The Car" magazine from 1902) and his secret love and the model for the hood ornament, Eleanor Valasco Thornton. Eleanor was John Walter's secretary, and their love was to remain hidden, limited to their circle of friends, for more than a decade. The reason for the secrecy was Eleanor's impoverished social and economic status, which was an obstacle to their love. Joh-Walter, succumbing to family pressures, married Lady Cecil Victoria Constance, but the secret love affair contined.

Eleanor died on December 30, 1915, going down on the SS Persia, when the ship as torpedoed off Crete by a German submarine while she accompanied Lord Montagu on his jouney to India, four years after she had been immortalized by her bereaved lover, and she became the model for the hood ornament on the Rolls Royce cars.

Hope you enjoy!
My self portrait in the front fender of a Rolls Royce. That's the closest I'll ever get to a Rolls Royce I'm afraid. I particularly liked the clouds from the sky reflected in the super slick fender. And too, there's Bill behind me patiently holding my camera bag. Hope you all enjoy this small piece of a wonderful, and classic car.
Posted 1/20/11 for my daily of 1/21/11

Hey there all my SmugMugger friends!

I have to leave tomorrow morning (Friday - 1/21) on a flight to Phoenix, AZ at 6:30 AM CST - and I won't be back in Dallas until midnight Friday - or is that Saturday morning? Those one day trips are killers.

Because of my trip. I am going to post my second daily photo today (forgive me) so I won't loose a day of posting to the Daily Photo Community because of my crazy travel schedule.

So please count this as my Daily for Friday, January 21st.

Even though I get back to Love Field (home base = Dallas) at midnight tomorrow, I still have to get to my car in the remote parking lot, and drive home. The drive home is an hour, and so I'm at my house 1:15 a.m. I'll not want to post a Daily or comment at that time in the morning, so I'm posting tonight.

Even though I'll miss commenting on Friday (tomorrow). I'll catch up on my commets on your fab photos Saturday afternoon.

This shot is from the archives, and is a 1939 Chevrolet that was gorgeous - I liked the smattering of rain drops on the car. The pearl white color was perfect, and the interior was magnificent - I liked it in B&W treatment.

Thanks for your comments on my recent photos.

Best regards,
Linda
